Francois Bezuidenhout was born in the small port-side city of Port Elizabeth on the South-Eastern Coast of South Africa.
Hailing from a family of sheep farmers from the little Karoo, he became interested in wine when the family moved to Cape Town in the late 1980’s. While on a school-trip to Groot Constantia, the mealybug bit and the rest is history.
After his studies at Stellenbosch University, he had a few stints in New Zealand, California and Germany, before finally settling in the town of Robertson to hone his craft. In 2014 he acquired his diploma as a Cape Wine Master, joining an elite group of individuals who aim to promote and advocate for the South African wine industry.
Always the entrepreneur, Francois finally took the plunge and started to make his own wines in 2017.
Leenders wines were born.
